The world said goodbye to a rock legend this week.

On July 30, fans gathered in Ozzy Osbourne’s hometown of Birmingham, England, for a public funeral procession that paid powerful tribute to the Prince of Darkness.

Just a week after his death on July 22, the streets were lined with mourners who came to celebrate the life and legacy of the iconic Black Sabbath frontman – some traveling from across the globe to do so.

Sharon Osbourne, joined by their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, as well as Ozzy’s son Louis, was visibly emotional as she laid flowers at the Black Sabbath Bridge bench on Broad Street, a site now overflowing with flowers, handwritten notes, balloons, and fan artwork.

Dressed in a simple black dress and gold chain, Sharon was moved to tears as she took in the sheer volume of love from the public. “Bless you,” she later commented on Instagram in response to a tribute from Gavin Rossdale, who praised Ozzy’s warmth and humor.

The tribute wasn’t just local. Fans around the world took to social media to honor the heavy metal icon, sharing concert memories, rare vinyl collections, and personal messages about how Ozzy’s music changed their lives. Rock enthusiasts mourned the loss of a man who redefined the genre with his wild charisma and boundary-pushing sound.

Kelly Osbourne honored her father by wearing his signature purple-tinted sunglasses, sharing on Instagram, “I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had.” Jack, dressed in an all-black suit, solemnly absorbed the moment, while Aimee, who’s had a complicated relationship with fame, stood beside her mother in a rare public appearance, overwhelmed by the outpouring of love.

The late singer’s name was spelled out in white floral letters as the hearse carrying his body made its way down Lodge Road, near his childhood home. Fans clapped, wept, and held up peace signs in a final salute to the rocker whose music soundtracked decades of rebellion.

Though Ozzy’s final performance with Black Sabbath came just weeks earlier on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, the impact of his legacy is just beginning to be fully felt. His family released a heartfelt statement confirming his passing: “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

The magnitude of this farewell, both in person and online, reflects how deeply he connected with fans across generations and continents. As tributes continue to pour in, it’s evident the Prince of Darkness may be gone, but his spirit will forever echo through the sound of rock.
