The 2025 Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night, celebrating Black style and tailoring with a star-studded red carpet and the theme “Tailored for You.”
It’s the first Monday in May, which can only mean one thing…Met Gala Monday is here!
As the biggest night in fashion takes over New York City, here’s everything you need to know about the 2025 Met Gala, from the theme, dress code to the star-studded host lineup and must-watch red carpet moments.
What Is the Met Gala?
The Met Gala is a major fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. Each year, it raises millions (last year’s total topped $26 million) and serves as the grand kickoff to the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition. Orchestrated by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, the exclusive event draws A-list designers, actors, musicians, athletes, influencers, and more.
What’s This Year’s Theme?
The 2025 Met Gala theme is “Tailored for You,” an extension of the Costume Institute’s bold new exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which opens to the public on May 10. The show explores the artistry and cultural significance of Black tailoring and style throughout the Atlantic diaspora, with a spotlight on the figure of the Black dandy. Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s curator in charge, selected the theme, with Monica Miller, chair of Africana Studies at Barnard College, serving as guest curator
Who Are the 2025 Hosts?
As always, Anna Wintour is at the helm. Joining her as co-chairs this year are: Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams. In addition, LeBron James will serve as the evening’s honorary chair.
What’s the Dress Code?
Also titled “Tailored for You,” this year’s dress code is a clear nod to menswear, expect to see everything from classic tailoring to experimental silhouettes. Vogue teased an emphasis on structure, precision, and personal flair. Fashion expert Roshumba Williams told ABC News Live that she’s hoping for “capes and coats and exquisitely tailored menswear,” alongside both structured and flowing silhouettes.
Who’s Expected to Attend?
This year's host committee is packed with trailblazing artists and icons, including: André 3000, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Lee & Tonya Lewis Lee, Audra McDonald,Janelle Monáe, Usher, Kara Walker, and more. Naturally, all eyes are on Rihanna, who’s known for shutting down the Met stairs and is expected to attend in support of co-chair and partner A$AP Rocky. Other Met Gala veterans we might see: Zendaya, Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds, Cardi B, Jared Leto, Elle Fanning, Florence Pugh, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Gigi Hadid, and of course, the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
